Judge at the Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Office of Undergraduate Research invites faculty, post-doctoral scholars, staff, and graduate students who are passionate about academic inquiry and supporting student scholars to serve as judges for the 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS), set to take place at the Illini Union on April 25, 2024.

As the signature event of Undergraduate Research Week, the URS will bring together hundreds of students from all academic disciplines to share their research through oral panels, poster presentations, performances, demonstrations, and exhibits. We are seeking judges who can contribute their time and support to ensure comprehensive evaluations of student presentations, enabling our office to recognize outstanding student presenters. Equally important is the opportunity for judges to engage in meaningful dialogue with student presenters, providing valuable feedback to nurture their growth as researchers and communicators.

Your participation as a judge will include:

  1. Evaluating a select number of presentations during a 1.5-hour time slot on Thursday, April 25 (based on your availability).
  2. Engaging in constructive and supportive dialogue with student presenters.

Your contribution to this event is invaluable, and we deeply appreciate your willingness to participate. Please sign up to be a judge at: https://go.illinois.edu/URSJudge

Upon request, after your service, we will provide an official letter confirming your participation and thanking you for your invaluable contribution to the university and the event.
